Sour Lake is the old-timer of Hardin County — oil-boom history downtown (Texaco got its start here) and cattle-and-acreage country in every direction. West of town the Thicket loosens into pasture land, and pasture land means the jobs we grew up on: stock ponds, cleared fields, solid pads and drives that hold up when the gumbo gets wet.
From Buna we work the whole Sour Lake, China and Nome country: pond construction, land clearing, brush work, pads and fill, grading and drainage. Family crew, our own iron, est. 1999.

The clay-heavy ground west of Sour Lake is honest pond country — it holds water the way the sandier land east of us won't. We dig stock tanks that keep cattle watered through a dry August, fishing ponds shaped with real structure, and retention basins that give storm water somewhere to go besides the barn.
A pond here is a system: depth matched to its job, banks sloped to hold and mow, overflow routed on purpose, and the spoil dirt turned into pads and fill instead of a heap. We site it by reading your dirt first — and we'll tell you straight if a spot won't hold.
Gumbo clay gives with one hand and takes with the other: it holds a pond beautifully and turns a driveway into grease. Working it takes timing and judgment — grading when the moisture is right, drives built with crown and base instead of gravel-on-mud, and ditches that actually fall somewhere.
We keep the pasture side working too: fields cleaned of brush, fence lines opened, and ground smoothed back to mowable. From Pinewood Estates out through China and Nome, the walk-through and the estimate are free.
